HNAC is independent of any university or corporation. HNAC offers support for students who are applying for the DSA – (Disabled
Students’ Allowance). The Centre is open to all students in higher education who are eligible for the DSA. The DSA is funded by
the government in order to help disabled students with additional costs for items such as Assistive Technology, while attending a
course in higher education.

Eligibility for the DSA is determined by disability on the part of the individual student. This includes: mental health, wheelchair use,
sight or hearing loss, or specific learning difficulties which affect the ability to study. A doctor’s letter or an Educational
Psychologist’s report is required to confirm eligibility. Assessment is available for all current funding bodies: including Student
Finance England, Student Finance Wales, the NHS and Research Councils. Students can apply before the start of their course or
after it has started.

We are committed to offering an efficient, friendly service. We work hard to ensure that each student has the opportunity to achieve
to the best of their potential, by facilitating access to the study process.
